Weather in Greenland

The Arctic climate in Greenland is similar to that in Iceland. This means the weather can be very changeable, with sunny days as well as cold, fresh mornings and evenings. It’s important to bring clothing suitable for rainy and windy conditions. In summer, the average temperature reaches a maximum of 10°C (50°F), but you might experience days with temperatures between 15-20°C (59-68°F). It starts to cool down around mid-August, and the nights can be chilly. In September, daytime temperatures are usually between 5°C and 8°C (41-46°F), and at night it can drop to -5°C (23°F).

Greenland, the world’s largest island, is known for its vast tundra and numerous glaciers. These glaciers, including the famous Jakobshavn Glacier and the Greenland Ice Sheet, are among the most significant in the world. The country offers breathtaking landscapes, including towering icebergs, fjords, and a rugged coastline. Greenlandic culture is rich with Inuit traditions, and visitors can experience unique aspects of their heritage, such as traditional music, storytelling, and art. The capital city, Nuuk, combines modern conveniences with historical sites and vibrant local culture.
