Day 1Arrival Day

Upon arrival at Keflavík Airport, a taxi will be waiting for you. The drive from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavík offers a smooth transition from the airport’s modern surroundings to the heart of the city. As you travel, you’ll pass through Iceland’s scenic landscapes, including stretches of open terrain, rocky fields, and coastal views. The journey typically takes around 40 minutes, giving you a first glimpse of the country’s unique terrain before arriving in Reykjavík, where you can begin your exploration of Iceland’s vibrant culture, history, and architecture.

Overnight location:
Hótel Borg or similar in Reykjavík. (50km/31mi)

Day 2The capital, gastronomy & Presidential residence

Meet your guide at 09:00 am and set out to explore Reykjavík, the world’s northernmost capital. Learn about the history while visiting landmarks such as Hallgrímskirkja, the University district, and the harbour, where fishing boats, mountain views, and the Harpa concert hall create a distinctive atmosphere. Afterwards we take a short drive out of the centre to Bessastaðir, the historic home of the president of Iceland. Although it is closed to visitors, it remains an important landmark.

We head to an Icelandic restaurant for a lunch stop, where we will experience Iceland through a seasonal menu, with the chef leading the way and the waiter serving as your guide.

After exploring the city and stopping for lunch, we will head to Harpa and enjoy the Volcano Express, a short fil about Iceland’s volcanic nature.

Overnight location:
Hótel Borg or similar. Breakfast & lunch included. (150km/93mi)

Day 3West Iceland - Hot Springs, Waterfalls & Into the Glacier

We leave Reykjavík and head west through the countryside towards Borgarfjörður Valley, a region shaped by geothermal energy, rivers and lava fields. We will stop at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, where steam rises steadily from the ground.

Afterwards, we will head to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, both part of the same river system. At Hraunfossar the cold spring water emerges from beneath a wide lava field and flows into the Hvítá river – a formation created by volcanic activity over 1000 years ago. A short walk upstream leads to Barnafoss, where the river narrows between rock formations. This site is also known for its own tragic tale, which adds to the atomosphere of the area

Our journey than takes us to Húsafell, a quiet area near the highlands. From here, we join the Into the Glacier tour, a guided excursion into a man made ice tunnel inside Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. Specially equipped vehicles bring us up onto the ice, where we explore the glacier from within.

Overnight location:
Hótel Húsafell or similar. Breakfast & dinner included. (150km/93mi)

Day 4West Iceland to The Golden Circle - Geothermal Waters, History & Natural Highlights

Today’s adventure starts at Hvammsvík Hot Springs, located in Hvalfjörður, where geothermal pools meet the sea.

After a rejuvenating soak, we continue towards the Golden Circle. Our first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where Iceland’s parliament was established in 930 AD, making it the oldest in the world. The site lies between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, clearly visible in the landscape.

We then continue to Laugarvatn Fontana, where traditional rye bread is baked using geothermal heat. After learning about this method, we taste the bread while it is still warm.

Our journey continues to Friðheimar Geothermal Greenhouse & Horse Stables. Here, we learn about greenhouse farming powered by geothermal energy and meet the Icelandic horse.

Before heading to the hotel for the evening, we stop at Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s best-known waterfalls, followed by the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes.

Overnight location:
Hótel Geysir or similar. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included. (290km/180mi)

Day 5Gracious South Coast

This morning venture to the South Shore of Iceland, known for its waterfalls, open landscapes and coastal features shaped by volcanic activity. The day includes a visit to Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s most recognized waterfalls, as well as Seljalandsfoss, where it is possible to view the falls from behind. We explore Skógar Folk Museum, with more than 15,000 artefacts related to farming, fishing and daily life in rural Iceland. Turf houses and tools on display offer insight into the country’s cultural heritage. Further east, we reach the black sand beach at Reynisfjara, known for its striking hexagonal basalt columns and sea stacks rising from the ocean. A short stop is also made in the village of Vík. After the adventures of the day we return to Geysir.

Overnight location:
Hótel Geysir or similar. Breakfast & dinner included. (360km/224mi)

Day 6Volcanic Landscapes & The Blue Lagoon

Begin the day with a visit to Kerið, a volcanic crater formed about 3000 years ago. The crater is about  55 metres deep and features a small lake at its base, with steep slopes of red volcanic rock surrounding it.

From there, we head to Reykjanes Peninsula, known for its geological activity. The area is shaped by volcanic forces, with dramatic fissures, bubbling hot springs, and vast lava fields creating a unique landscape. Our first stop is at the Bridge Between Continents, which lies on one of the world’s largest plate boundaries – between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

We continue to Reykjanesviti, Iceland’s oldest lighthouse. It offers sweeping views of the rugged coastline and surrounding landscapes, standing as a testament to Iceland’s maritime heritage. Afterwards, we stop at Gunnuhver, a geothermal area bursting with boiling mud pools, fumaroles, and vibrant colours from surrounding rocks and minerals that give it an otherworldly atmosphere.

We end the day with a relaxing soak at the Blue Lagoon. This geothermal spa is renowned for its strikingly vivid blue-turquoise and mineral-rich waters. Soak and unwind surrounded by the surreal and lunar-like landscape of volcanic rocks and moss.

After a week full of adventures, we head back to the hotel in Reykjavík for one last night.

Overnight location:
Hótel Borg or similar. Breakfast included. (290km/180mi)

Day 7Departure Day

A taxi will come and pick you up at your accommodation, taking you to Keflavík Airport. As you leave the city, you’ll pass through open landscapes, rocky fields, and coastal views, offering a final look at Iceland’s unique terrain. The route provides a brief but scenic journey as you head towards the airport, ready to catch your flight.

Breakfast included. (50km/31mi)

NOTE: Itineraries may be subject to change at short notice during severe weather conditions, and certain outdoor activities/day trips may be cancelled during the winter season in Iceland. When and where does the tour start?

The tour starts on day 2, just before 9:00 am, in the lobby of your hotel.

Arrival and departure days are to make your flight arrangements easier and to have a free day of leisure. The tour starts on day 2 and ends the day before departure.

When can we see the Northern Lights?

The Northern Lights season is from September to mid-April. We carefully choose locations to maximize your chances to see the northern lights with the help of a professional tour guide.

Are the Northern Lights guaranteed on this trip?

The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis as they are also referred to are one of the many natural wonders of the world. As a naturally occurring phenomenon, the appearance of the Northern Lights is notoriously difficult to predict any further in advance than about two hours before it happens. As much is dependent on solar activity, we cannot accurately predict when they will occur or how frequently. Every endeavour will be made on this trip to see the Northern Lights if it is the correct time of year to see the lights. However, this is not guaranteed.

Can you assist with booking additional accommodation?

Off course, we can help you book pre/post-tour accommodation if you wish to stay in the same hotels as the ones we use on tour. We always have some rooms on an allotment for pre/post nights. If you would like to stay an extra day in Reykjavík before or after the tour, please contact our team.

What is the midnight sun?

During the summer months, Iceland gets a few days where the sun never even touches the horizon, ending in 24 hours of Daylight. This phenomenon is most visible around the Summer Solstice, June 21st.

I’m a solo traveller. Is there a single supplement?

A single supplement is mandatory for this trip if you want to have your own room.

What is the age range?

The minimum age limit for this tour is 8 years old, and we don’t recommend it for younger children. There is, on the other hand, no maximum age for this tour.

Are the flights included?

Flights before and after the tour are not included.

What is the suggested budget for meals?

Somewhere between 8.000 and 10.000 ISK per person per day is a good budget for lunch and dinner while on tour.

Are there locations to purchase food while we are on the trip, or must the meals be pre-packed?

We will make stops during the tour at restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations where meals, drinks and snacks can be purchased while on tour.

How much time is spent at each attraction?

We stop for about 40 minutes at each attraction.
