GENERAL INFORMATION FOR GREENLAND
Before travelling you must realize that Greenland is different to most other destinations! You have chosen a destination where:
• Weather is an important factor
• There are no roads or railroads connecting the towns
• Most areas only have one helicopter and/or a limited number of boats
Therefore, it is advisable to be prepared for delays and changes. Under extreme weather conditions and due to poor infrastructure, a single day of bad weather or a minor technical problem might cause changes to your itinerary for several days. You should not expect everything to happen exactly on time or let a minor delay or change in the program spoil your holiday. If you go to Greenland with an open mind and if you consider every change as a unique experience, we are sure that your stay in Greenland will be an unforgettable once-in-a-life trip.
Cancellations
Excursions can be cancelled because of bad weather, fog or ice conditions. The local tour operator will try to offer an alternative excursion if available or move the planned excursion to another day in order to do the full program.
In case of bad weather in Greenland or Iceland your flight may be delayed or even cancelled. Visitors to Greenland must keep in mind that weather is very erratic and unpredictable in the Arctic region, especially during the winter season. You need to factor in possible delays that are not under the control of the airlines. In such case please contact the airline service counter at the airport to seek their advice. The representative at your destination will be aware of the situation and will immediately take care of all necessary adjustments of your program. The airlines are not bound to pay your expenses until it is possible to continue – meaning that all extra cost must be paid by yourself on spot. Therefore, we recommend buying travel insurance in the country of your residence that covers such expenses.
