Do I need a Visa for Greenland?

Now that you have decided to visit Greenland, the next step is to think about whether you need a visa and if so where you can apply for one. Greenland is easier to get to than you think!

Will you need a Visa to enter Greenland? Short answer…. if you need one for Denmark, then yes. Greenland is a part of the Danish Kingdom, but is is not a member of Schengen or the EU like Denmark is.

Ask at the Danish Embassy in your home country to know about the specific requirements for your country.

For non-Schengen residents – a special entry for Greenland is required; please contact the embassy of Denmark for further info.

Passport must be shown when entering Greenland by all foreigners.

• You will need to apply for a visa at the Danish embassy and mention that you need a visa for both Denmark (multientry) and Greenland.

For our Greenland tours that go from Iceland to Greenland:

• You need a Schengen visa for Iceland, that is applied at the Icelandic embassy (or Danish if there is not an Icelandic embassy in your country).
• Then you need to apply for a visa for Greenland at the Danish embassy.
