NEW YEARS FESTIVAL REYKJAVIK

Saturday, 29.12.12: WELCOME - REYKJAVIK
Arrival in Iceland. Non-guided transfer from Keflavik International Airport to accommodation in Reykjavik.
Sunday, 30.12.12: REYKJAVIK CITY TOUR
Guided Reykjavik City Tour 2,5 to 3 hours. The rest of the day is free for exploring and shopping. There are optional Northern Lights evening tours offered.
Monday, 31.12.12: GOLDEN CIRCLE TOUR INCL. LUNCH
We drive over the highland plateau of Hellisheiði, passing the geothermal town of Hveragerði, known for the green house culture. Onwards we will explore the other worldly hot spring area of Geysir - multicolored pools of water and mud. Strokkur, the Great Geysir’s little brother, is spouting to a height of about 25 meters and erupts at about 5-7 minute intervals. After lunch (included) we drive to the mighty Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall), perhaps the most beautiful in the country. We walk around Gullfoss Falls, where the river Hvitá tumbles 32 meters in a double cascade. On the way back to Reykjavik we stop at Þingvellir National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its fascinating natural beauty and spectacular geological features. The Great Atlantic rift is clearly visible; a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates and you can literally walk between the American and Eurasian continental plates. (Tour is from 09:00-16:00)
PERLAN FESTIVE DINNER AND BONFIRE TOUR
17:15 Transfer from your hotel to Perlan restaurant where you will enjoy a festive 4-course gala dinner. After the main course guests will be picked up by our guides for the evening Reykjavik Bonfire & Christmas Lights Tour where we celebrate with Icelanders at the bonfires that are situated all over the city. The tour takes about two hours. After the tour we go back to Perlan restaurant for the dessert. At midnight, with sparkling wine, we celebrate the New Year by watching the fireworks from the panoramic balcony. Afterwards we dance the night away. Transfer back to hotels around 2 o'clock at night (transfers start at 00:30 for those who want to go home early).
Tuesday, 01.01.13: BLUE LAGOON & REYKJANES PENINSULA
At 10:30 we drive to the famous Blue Lagoon, a natural geothermal pool in the middle of a large and dramatic lava field. The Blue Lagoon, an oasis in the lava owes its existence to a nearby geothermal power plant, looming large over the aqua tinted waters. We stop for 2,5 hours for a refreshing bathe or a swim in the pleasantly warm mineral-rich water, reputed for its healing properties. Next stop is Keflavik airport for departing passengers to North America. The guided tour continues to the bridge over the continents, then to the light house at the edge of the Reykjanes peninsula. Here we experience dramatic sea shores and a fascinating hot spring area. Through moonscapes and lava fields we reach the small fishing village of Grindavik before we return to Reykjavik around 16:30. In the evening a 3 course dinner is included at Grand Hotel Reykjavik or a restaurant close to your accommodation.
Wednesday, 02.01.13: FAREWELL
Transfer without guide to Keflavik Airport.

CANCELLATIONS
A cancellation fee of 10% of the tour price and
accommodation will be retained us for cancellations made from 1 month to
14 days before departure. From 14 days until 48 hours before departure,
the fee is 50%. No refund is possible for cancellations less than 48
hours before departure, or for no shows, and a tour begun, but not
completed. The exchange of one arrangement for another must be agreed by
us beforehand.
