Here is your chance to visit a glacier and not just any glacier. This trip will take you to the frozen glacial tongue that is Sólheimajökull. It is a magnificent phenomenon, a rugged, raw and ever changing hub of ancient frozen water. We will explore the crevasse riddled outlet glacier with its amazing ice formations, sinkholes and jagged ridges. Along the way we will find an ice wall on the glacier and try our hand at ice climbing. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines. A packed lunch will be served on the glacier. On our return journey to Reykjavik, we will stop at the beautiful waterfall Skógafoss. Trip difficulty: 2 out of 5 possible. Rated: Easy

Along the way we will find an ice wall on the glacier and try our hand at ice climbing. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines, making sure you are very safe as you brave the heights. As we drive back to Reykjavik we will stop at the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall.

What kind of clothing is needed for glacier hikes?
Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, warm head wear and good water proof winter gloves. Good hiking shoes with ankle support are strongly recommended, if you do not have hiking shoes then you can rent them from us. Just remember to book your shoes beforehand so you can be sure we will bring them along for you.
Included: Pick-up from Reykjavík, glacier hike on Sólheimajökull glacier, an introduction to ice climbing, glacier gear and packed lunch.
Guaranteed departures: Everyday 8:30-9:00 from Reykjavík. If you have your own transport and want to meet us, then the meeting place is at 11:30 at the parking lot at the Sólheimajökull glacier, a left turn a about 5 minutes after passing the Skógafoss waterfall.
