RIVER RAFTING HVÍTÁ
DAY TOUR FROM REYKJAVÍK
THIS IS OUR ALL TIME BESTSELLER!
River rafting on the Hvítá river right next door to Geysir in Iceland. River difficulty 2 out of 5 possible.
We started rafting the Hvítá River (pronounced Kveetau) almost 25 years ago and since those early days it has been the most popular adventure activity in Iceland. The Hvítá river is a beautiful and fun river a little more than one hour from Reykjavík. The river has a perfectly balanced mix of serene canyons and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids. On our way we pass through the magnificent Brúarhlöð canyon and in that stunning setting participants have the option of jumping from a cliff into the river. Who can resist going glacier river swimming in Iceland?
No one should leave Iceland without experiencing the power that its rivers contain and lay eyes on the scenic canyons of Hvítá river...not to mention relaxing with a beer in our sauna or hot-tubs after a day of adventure!
RIVER RAFTING HVÍTÁ
DAY TOUR FROM REYKJAVÍK
How long time does the tour River Fun take?
The tour takes 7-8 hours total with transfer from Reykjavík. 3 hours if you meet us at Drumbó, this includes transfer from Drumbó to the river, getting dressed and instructions from the guides on river rafting. You are around 1,5 hours rafting on the river.
Can I visit the Golden Circle and still go river rafting on the same day?
Yes, no problem. If you have your own rental car, Geysir hot springs and Gullfoss waterfall are just a few minutes drive from the rafting site. If you would like a guided tour you can join our super popular day tour; The Golden Grand Slam, which combines river rafting on Hvítá with visits to the Geysir Hot Springs, Gullfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park.
How many people are in each boat?
Our rafts sit 8 to 12 people and depending on the group size each day we arrange paddlers in boats so that every one is comfortable.
What are the facilities at the Drumbó Base Camp?
The Drumbó Base Camp has a reception, bar, restaurant, sauna, hot tubs, showers, changing rooms and a great veranda to sip a cold beer after your adventure. The Drumbó is pretty much the perfect rafting base... : )

How far is Drumbó Base Camp from the Geysir Hot Springs?
10 kilometers (6 miles)
How far is Drumbó Base Camp from Gullfoss Waterfall?

What is the minimum age for a participant in the River Fun tour?
Kids 12 years old and older can raft the whole river if accompanied by a guardian.
Kids between 10 and 12 can raft half way, for half price.
Do I have to know how to swim to go on the River Fun tour?
Yes, absolutely, each paddler on a rafting boat has to know how to swim.
Can I drink alcohol before going river rafting?
No absolutely not. The consumption of alcohol makes you more prone to hypothermia and makes you do unpredictable mistakes (as you probably know : ). It is therefore strictly prohibited, if we suspect that participants are intoxicated we will prohibit them from joining the tour.
What do I have to bring with me for my River Fun tour?
You have to bring; your swimming wear (or a change of underclothing) to wear under your rafting pants, a warm fleece or a wool sweater to wear under your rafting jacket (it will get wet) and a towel to dry of after your trip. Everything else we will provide.
River Rafting Equipment - To make things super easy we have list of things you will have to bring:
* A warm sweater (fleece or wool) that you don´t mind getting wet.
* Swim suit to wear under the neoprene pants.
* A towel to dry off after the rafting ( you can also rent at Drumbó).
See you on the river!
Do you recommend the River Fun tour if I have no experience of rafting?
Yes, this is the perfect rafting trip for first timers! If you have rafted before and are looking for some extra adrenaline you can join the River Ride tour or even the Beast of The East (which is operated from another base camp in North Iceland)
Can white water rafts sink?
The rafts that we use are made of very strong, specially made rubber and each boat is split up into several compartments. This means that on the rare occasion a boat is punctured all odds are that just one compartment is leaking, so rafts do not generally sink.
Is there a guide in each boa
