ATV Tour - Mountain Cruiser
The Mountain Cruiser is our two-hour afternoon ATV/Quad Bike Adventure on Hellisheiði lava plateau, just 25 minutes from Reykjavík. The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel or guesthouse (but you can also meet us on location if you prefer). Quad biking makes it possible for us to visit places accessible only by the selected few who have access to off-road vehicles. This is an outdoor adventure you will not easily forget.
Our base is set in the mountainous Hellisheiði lava plateau, just 25 minutes outside the city. We will start by gearing up in warm thermal layers and waterproof clothing before our expert ATV guides show you how to safely handle our powerful (700 cc engine size) Super-ATV´s. From the base we follow gravel roads to the North and to the river system that comes from Mt. Hengill. We will drive the rough tracks along the river, crossing it many times and on occasion actually drive in the river. This is our most adventurous quad bike journey, tons of action and scenic views.

What is the age limit for the ATVs?
To drive the ATVs you need a valid international car driver’s license. A scooter licence is not enough. For sitting at the back on the bike there is no age limit, kids can sit at the back of their parents. Due to safety reason we require a minimum age of 10 as a passenger.
What clothing is provided?
We provide a fleece jacket, gloves, headwear, helmet and waterproof jacket and pants!
What do I need to bring?
We recommend that you bring sunglasses, warm outdoor clothing and waterproof jacket and pants (but we also have some waterproof clothing to lend)
Where do I meet you for the trip if I don’t want pick up from Reykjavík?
The ATVs are located at Bolalda next to Litla Kaffistofan, a gas station on route nr 1 on mount Hellisheiði. The guide comes to Litla Kaffistofan and you follow them to Bolalda. The drive is around 20 minutes from Reykjavík; you follow the signs for Selfoss and turn to right few meters before the gas station.

The bikes are 700CC.

Season: Everyday, all year round (depending on weather and snow conditions)
Guaranteed departures: Everyday 13:00-13:30. If you have your own transport and want to meet us, then the meeting time is 14:00 at Litla Kaffistofan roadside café (check map below for driving directions).
Minimum: 2 persons
Maximum: 60 persons
Duration of trip: 3-4 hours. 2 hours quadbiking
Included: Pick-up & transport from Reykjavik, 2 hours quad biking with two persons sharing a bike and gear.
Bring with you: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants (we also have some gear to lend on location). Good hiking shoes are recommended (note: hiking shoes, waterproof jacket and pants can be rented if you let us know in advance).
Age limit: 10 years as a passenger on the ATV
Trip difficulty: 2 out of 5 / Rating: easy / No knowledge of the sport is required!
