GOLDEN CIRCLE & GLACIER LAKE BOAT TOUR

Join us on an exciting journey which will take you to the source of the glacial river Hvítá. The tour starts by visiting Þingvellir National Park where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was established in the year 930 AD. We proceed through fertile agricultural areas and visit the mighty Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall), where the river Hvitá tumbles 32 meters (105 ft) in a double cascade into an amazing canyon. From Gullfoss we continue along mountain road Kjölur on our way north to a glacier lake called Hvítárvatn. There we will take a boat tour and navigate around the lake in the proximity of Iceland‘s second largest glacier, Langjökull. During the tour you will be taken on dry land and given the chance to take a short stroll beside the edge of the glacier. The duration of the boat tour is about 1 hour. After an enjoyable tour on the glacier lake we visit the geothermal area of Geysir and the spouting hot spring Strokkur, which ejects water columns up in the air every few minutes. On our way back to Reykjavík we will pass by the greenhouse village of Hveragerði.

This tours is operated from June 15th to August 31st

GOLDEN CIRCLE & GLACIER LAKE BOAT TOUR

Join us on an exciting journey which will take you to the source of the glacial river Hvítá. The tour starts by visiting Þingvellir National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi was established in the year 930 AD. We stroll around the country’s most sacred site, home of the oldest existing parliament in the world, the Alþingi, and major events in our history. Thingvellir is a place of fascinating natural beauty, one of the most geologically spectacular, set on a vast plain flanked by large fissures, right on Iceland’s largest lake, Thingvallavatn. The Great Atlantic rift is clearly visible; a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates and you can literally walk between the American and Eurasian continental plates.

We proceed through fertile agricultural areas and visit the mighty Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall), where the river Hvitá tumbles 32 meters (105 ft) in a double cascade into an amazing canyon. When the sun is shining, you’re likely to see a rainbow through the massive spray that forms. We explore this otherworldly hot spring area, a geothermal field covered with multicolored pools of water where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explore and pools of mud bubble. On our way back to Reykjavík we will pass by the greenhouse village of Hveragerði.
