“Borgatun Guest House in Reykjavík Iceland”
Borgartun Guest House from Marco Polomint, Essex, England Jul 11, 2009
1person found this review helpfulIf you need a pleasant Holiday Inn Express experience in Iceland, you can't do better than this (relatively) cheap 'guest house'. In England I'd call this a 'budget hotel' like Holiday Inn - not Travelodge as you don't get breakfast included there! The accommodation is en-suite - shower, toilet and sink. Two single beds and two armchairs and a TV. The facilities include a lounge with an Internet PC accessible for all. The travel agent Gudmundur Jonasson is based in the building so setting up excursions is really easy. The only downside was the traffic noise, on the road facing side of the guest house but see below for how we slept! The Icelandic people are brilliant! The youngest teenager we encountered spoke fantastic English; signs are often in English rather than the expected Icelandic! The food is fishy and lovely. We actually got sunburnt at the Blue Lagoon not realising the bright sunshine was affecting us. We saw whales, and dolphins great waterfalls, geysers (blowing every 5 minutes!), fantastic scenery and all this in three days! We would love to go back again and tackle glaciers and volcanoes next time. Oh, and the fact it was still light at 3am didn't disturb us as we were so worn out from these sights and the fresh air.....!

“Welcoming and comfortable”
Borgartun Guest House contributions U.K. Jul 17, 2010
1person found this review helpfulI stayed at the Bogartun guesthouse for two separate nights in June. The accomodation covers the top two floors of the building and there is a lift. As well as the usual facilities in my room, I noticed a hairdryer and a television set - with, unexpectedly, an English Channel, BBC 1. Everything was very clean .there was hot water at all hours, and the room was much warmer than I had expected. I was surprised to see that the large window had only lightweight curtains and no blackout linings to darken the room in summer and insulate it in winter - I later found that this is normal in Iceland - but I had no difficulty in getting to sleep and slept soundly. The buffet breakfast spread was varied and excellent - I particularly appreciated the good coffee and selection of breads - making a good start to a busy day of sightseeing.

“Fantastic Guest House !”

I stayed at the Borgartun guest house for a few nights and was impressed by the qulity of the service. It's not a high class hotel and the furnitures aren't very fashion but the sleep quality is very good and the guest house is clean. Staff are very pleasant and always there to help. A bus is needed to go to the city center but isn't a big issue. I will certainly go back with my fiance and I highly recommend this place.

“Thank you”

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
We would like to thank you so much for that fantastic time we had! We absolutely enjoyed the incredible nature of Iceland, our hotel room and a very good breakfast! Once again thank you a lot for making that possible for us! We will definitely recommend a trip to Iceland with your agency and hope to see Iceland again!!! Sincerely Sylvia and Isabelle Vandre, Germany.
