Along the way from Ilulissat in the Disko Bay to Qaqortoq in South Greenland there will be plenty of time to relax and experience the beautiful and varied nature of Greenland.

Sailing plays a very important role in the Greenlandic infrastructure and a cruise along the West coast of Greenland is a fabulous way of experiencing this beautiful and varied country. Accommodation in outside cabins with private facilities. Ilulissat Town of the giant icebergs and home of the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fiord. This is the third largest town in Greenland and a really big city where modern life meets old fashion life style, all surrounded by amazing nature. Here, ice is the main theme; get close to the icy giants covered in the rays of the midnight sun on an amazing Ice Fiord cruise, join a full day boat excursion to the calving glacier; Eqip Sermia. You can also visit some of the remote settlements where fishing and hunting still provide for the living.

The Sea Voyage
Meet the local population travelling from town to town to visit relatives and friends along the coast. Enjoy the beautiful and varied landscape as we leave the rough Arctic nature and reach the green and fertile South Greenland. We sail in open waters and in narrow straits, so close that you can almost touch the mountains. Along the way the ship calls at the major towns and at a few settlements. Everywhere, the arrival of the ship makes people rush to the harbour to welcome friends and relatives. Life on board is relaxing! Enjoy the view and make sure to keep your eyes open, as humpback whales are often seen.

Qaqortoq
Qaqortoq is the biggest town in South Greenland. Situated near the big lake "Storesøen" with rising mountains in the outback of the city. Old colony houses show the history of the town, while new big modern houses rises up along the cliff wall, all with splendid views over the open sea. A real town of contrasts.

Thursday
Air Iceland flight from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Ilulissat. Meet & greet by a local guide. Transfer to the hotel for check-in, information meeting including details for the upcoming ship voyage and guided City walk. Optional excursions during stay in Ilulissat:

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure in Ilulissat until afternoon transfer at 15:30 to the pier for embarking MV Sarfaq Ittuk. Departure at 16:30 for our southbound cruise along the Greenlandic West Coast.

06.00-06.30 Short stop in Paamiut.
21:30 Short stop in Narsaq
24:00 Arrival to Qaqortoq. Meet & greet by a local tour guide. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and information meeting.

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Qaqortoq pier and by boat through Eric's Fiord to Narsarsuaq. Transfer from Narsarsuaq pier to the airport. Air Iceland flight from Narsarsuaq to Reykjavik Domestic Airport.

Currency and credit cards: Important to bring Danish Kronas to Greenland. Foreign currency is not everywhere accepted. Credit cards are accepted only at few locations. i.e. at the hotels and larger stores. Using credit and debit card, an PIN-code is required.

Trips to Greenland are always subject to weather conditions. Delays and flight cancellations can happen. Therefore we stronly recommend you to buy a travel insurance in the country of residence that would cover any additional travel expenses, should your flights be delayed or cancelled due to weather. We recommend not to book any international flight directly after a trip from Greenland.

After we receive your reservation by email, you will get a short reconfirmation from us that we will work on your booking. The final confirmation be send within 3-4 days after booking receipt. Payment is due latest 4 weeks prior to arrival and vouchers and detailed itinerary will be sent after receipt of final payment.
